REIKI
RELAX, DE-STRESS, UNWIND!

Reiki leaflet 005.jpg

Stressed out from overwork and not enough rest?  Treat yourself to a session of Reiki (pronounced ray-key) – a gentle and natural “hands on” complementary therapy developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900s which re-energises body and mind, and usually leaves you feeling calm, peaceful and deeply relaxed.  Benefits may also include relief from pain, and restful sleep.

Janet Sutherland, Master Practitioner, practices Reiki from her home in the hills above Loch Ness, just over a mile from Evergreen.  A Master Practitioner she has a supportive, warm and nurturing approach.   Enjoy:-

What happens during a treatment?

Reiki treatments are gentle and relaxing. You only need to remove things like shoes, a watch, belt, glasses or contact lenses.  Receiving Reiki is a very simple process, but usually produces quite profound effects. The session begins by lying down on a treatment couch, fully clothed, closing your eyes and listening to gentle, soothing music, which helps to produce a state of deep relaxation. Then the Reiki practitioner will gently rest their hands upon or just above you, non-intrusively, in a series of positions from the crown of the head to the feet.

Each hand position is held for a few minutes, and during this time healing energy will flow into you, balancing your energy system, releasing stress, soothing pain, and promoting your body’s natural ability to heal itself. As the energy flows, you may feel warmth, or heat, or tingling from the Practitioner's hands. It is usually a deeply relaxing experience: some people fall asleep. Other sensations may include seeing coloured lights or feeling as if you are floating.  Occasionally people have an emotional release of tears or laughter as emotional turmoil is brought to the surface and dissipated.  Reiki is not a religion, and does not require any particular belief system.  It does not promise cure.

To gently close the session Janet usually offers a short foot massage. (You do not need to remove socks or stockings.)

How does it work?
Reiki harmonises and balances your energies at all levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  All these systems interact and can affect one another.  Reiki clears your system of energy blockages which can arise from habitual negative thought or feeling patterns.  It is important to empower yourself by realising that positive thoughts and feelings can have a beneficial effect on your general well-being.  Your intention to heal is of the greatest priority.  Reiki is LIGHT at many levels - sometimes a treatment may help you to understand yourself and see the solution to any problem more clearly.

Anyone can benefit from Reiki treatments, no matter what your age or your state of health.
