See the questions and answers to find out more.
Where exactly are you located?
Evergreen is located midway down the quiet south side of Loch Ness on the
B852. The city
of Inverness is only 16 miles/ 25 minutes away.
How far are you from Loch Ness?
We have excellent views of the Loch from Evergreen and it is only
a short 5 minute stroll down to the shore.
Where is the nearest airport or
train/bus stations?
Inverness is the nearest airport, only 45 minutes drive from Evergreen.
There are flights
from across the UK so wherever you are based, flying is now an
easy option to reach the Highlands. If you don't wish to fly, the nearest
train and bus
stations are in the city of Inverness.
How many rooms do you have and
how many people can you accommodate?
We have two rooms at Evergreen. Our master bedroom has a large king size bed
which can be split to offer twin facilities. We can also add a third bed to
this room to offer triple accommodation. Our other room is a double with a
king size bed. The maximum number of people we can therefore accommodate is
5.
What exactly is the
difference between the master bedroom and your double bedroom?
The difference is essentially size. Our double room is spacious and
certainly above the average size of room you will normally find in a B&B.
The master bedroom, which is even larger also has a view of the loch and it
has the added attraction of the Jacuzzi® whirlpool bath. The
fittings, décor and accessories are very similar and high class in both
rooms. The two rooms are not adjacent to each other so you can be assured
peace and quiet.
Do you have showers or bath tubs
in your rooms?
Our master bedroom has an en suite with a jacuzzi whirlpool bath
and our double bedroom has a large shower with two shower heads! If you
prefer one or the other or perhaps cannot manage a bath because of an
infirmity, just let us know at the time of booking.
What time can we check in?
You are welcome to check in any time after 4.00 p.m. from March
to October and 3.00 p.m. from November to February. It is helpful if you
could phone us if you think you are going to arrive later than 8.00 p.m.
When do we have to check out?
10.00 a.m. is our check out time but in the quieter months we can be a
little more flexible.
How late can we arrive?
Don't worry, we will let you in even if you arrive late. But please give us
some advance warning.
Is there free off-road
parking?
Yes, we have plenty of free off-road parking. When you first arrive, just
come up the drive and park in front of the house.
Do we have to leave the
house during the day?
As it is only the two of us who run the business we have to use the time in
the middle of the day to get out and about and do all the shopping for the
business so you would have to leave the house during the day. However, there
is so much to see and do in the area, we don't think you will want to spend
the whole day in your room! Just check each morning to see what we have
planned so that you can enjoy the most of your time at Evergreen. However,
we do need access for room service during the morning. In general, you will
find Evergreen refreshingly free of improvised commands and requests pinned
to walls and staircases advising guests to do this that or the other.
How can we see and do a lot in
the area without hiring a car?
If you choose our dinner, bed and breakfast package, we can provide a free
pick up and drop off service from the airport, bus or train stations. We
also offer guided walks and
car tours for guests to allow you make the most of your time in the
area. Simply let us know at the time of booking that you would like to take
advantage of this service
Are you within walking
distance of a pub or are you licensed?
I'm afraid that if you like to go to the pub each evening and you don't want
to drive, then Evergreen is probably not for you. The closest pub/hotel is 2
miles from Evergreen in the village of Foyers - a great walk during the long
summer evenings but out of the question in a rural area during the winter
months. Unfortunately we are not licensed but you are welcome to bring your
own tipple with you. We provide a mini fridge in each room which will keep
drinks nice and cold and we have also provided glasses and a cork screw. If
you choose to dine with us in the evening, we offer a glass of complimentary
wine with your meal in our dining room overlooking Loch Ness.
What time do you lock up
in the evening?
If you are going to be later than 11.00 p.m. we will simply give you some
instructions on what to do when you arrive home, but rest assured, there are
no curfews.
Is there enough to do at
Evergreen to stay for a few days?
Absolutely, and for much longer! Many guests who come for only a few days
are disappointed to have to move on because they realise that there is so
much more to see in the area. There is easily enough for you to stay a week
or more. Have a look at our walking and
touring pages to get an idea of where you can explore from Evergreen. We
also have a comprehensive collection of great walks and maps for you and we
are happy to suggest tailor made itineraries to make sure you make the best
use of your time in the area.
We have to leave early for the airport or a long drive home. Can we have
breakfast earlier?
Nobody should leave us without breakfast. If you want a really early start,
we can give you a breakfast tray with a continental selection. We have small
fridges in each room so everything can stay chilled and fresh until you need
it. We can offer breakfast in the dining room from 7.00 a.m.
Do you offer a full
Scottish breakfast?
Of course, but also much much more. Check out our
online menu. Enjoy breakfast in our dining
room overlooking Loch Ness
Do you cater for
vegetarians / vegans / special diets?
Absolutely – both our breakfast and dinner menus include many suitable
options.
Can we sit outside and
relax?
Certainly. Our house is designed to maximise the views over the loch and
there is an area of decking over looking the loch specifically for guests.
If you are lucky you might spot a red squirrel in Autumn or see some deer
around dusk. And if it gets too cold, take a book from our extensive
collection and relax in our large lounge instead.
Can I have a discount?
All discounts are indicated in our "Special offers" section which we put on
our website at specific times of the year and are designed to encourage you
to stay midweek and for longer. No other discounts are available. Not only
would this be unfair to guests booking at regular prices and well in
advance, but our standard prices are already very reasonable.
What do the Stars and
Green Tourism award mean? Who inspects you?
In Scotland we have an excellent organisation which offers independent
inspections of all types of accommodation. VisitScotland assesses the
quality and awards an appropriate grading. Bed and breakfasts are awarded 1
- 5 stars. Although there is no legal requirement to be inspected we firmly
believe in the grading scheme as we feel that it helps visitors to choose
quality accommodation. Evergreen has received a high 4 Star rating
(Excellent) from VisitScotland as well as a "Gold Award" from the Green
Tourism Business Scheme which recognises our commitment to minimising the
impact our business has on the environment. We are also listed as one of "Scotland's
Best B&B's"
And finally........
Have you seen the Monster??
Well, that would be telling!
